Tonight - the state's highest court has a new justice. The Executive Council today confirmed James Duggan's nomination to sit on the bench of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Duggan replaces retired Justice Sherman Horton.

If you've been waiting to see what solutions might work best to solve the education funding crisis - you'll need to wait a bit longer. Governor Jeanne Shaheen says her blue ribbon tax commission needs an extra week to complete its report on education funding options. The deadline had been December 29th. That date has been moved until after the January 4th inauguration.

New England environmental groups are celebrating new regulations on mercury emmissions from coal fired power plants.
The New Hampshire director of Clean Water Action, told the Union Leader, that the coal fired power plant in Bow is the state's leading source of mercury. He says the federal decision goes to the heart of the problem.
The plant's owner - Public Service Company of New Hampshire - says it's prepared to work with regulators.

If you're dreaming of a White Christmas and you like knowing the odds of something happening - listen up. A Cornell University climatologist says if you to head to Caribou, Maine - Concord, New Hampshire - or North Pole, New York - yes, North Pole, New York -odds are you'll have snow for Christmas.
The probability of snow varies in each location. Caribou tops the list, with a 97 percent chance of at least one inch. North Pole, New York which is north of Lake Placid, offers a 96 percent chance. And Concord comes in third, with an 87 percent chance of snow for December 25th.

These days many people's time is not only valuable but extremely limited - especially during the holidays. But students at the University of New Hampshire are leading the way in community service. Joining us tonight is Marianne Fortescue, the director of UNH's Partnership for Social Action.

Students at the UNH logged a total of more than 56 thousand hours of community service last year, the is an outstanding number. How do you get students involved?
Benefited area - homeless, community landscaping projects and mentoring programs for middle school children.
Points of Light Foundation values public service at $14.30 per hour. The value of UNH services totals more than $805,000.
More than 600 undergrad - close to 80% women volunteer at area schools and service angencies.
Seacoast Reads is one of the most successful programs. Describe the program.

Here's a look at some of the stories making headlines in New Hampshire business.

The New Hampshire-based air traffic control center that handles flights throughout New England is among those cited for increased errors that allow planes to come too close to one another.
The FAA reports there have been 21 errors at the Boston Center in Nashua this year. And more than a 100 at the center that controls the mid-atlantic states.
The inspector general wants those errors reduced.

Starting fresh. That's what a high-tech company in Portsmouth is doing. e-Velocity Corporation a manufacturer of Internet-based billing programs for corporate law departments, laid off ALL 42 of its employees last week and replaced its president and chief executive officer.
Monday, 15 employees were hired back and a member of the board of directors, took over as president and chief executive officer.
According to the new chief, the decision to lay off workers was made after an anticipated investor failed to come through.

The proposal to give the residents of Derry tax breaks for using alternative fuels has been unanimously rejected by the Town Council. Supporters of the proposal hoped the plan would have encouraged people to conserve natural resources by using alternative energy sources in their homes.
